Hvammsvík Nature Resort & Hot Springs are located in the middle of the Hvalfjörður ( “Whale fjord”), on route 47, only a 45 minutes drive from Reykjavík city center.
We are only:
- 52 km from Reykjavík city center (approx. 45 minutes)
- 38 km from Akranes (approx. 30 minutes)
- 47 km from Thingvellir (approx. 40 minutes)
- 94 km from Keflavík International Airport (approx. 1 ½ hours)
Quickest way from Reykjavík
The easiest way for you to get to Hvammsvík Nature Resort & Hot Springs from Reykjavík is by taking route 1 towards Borgarnes/Akureyri (northbound).
Once out of Reykjavík and Mosfellsbær you drive for about 15 minutes. Before you reach Hvalfjordur underwater tunnel, take a right turn onto route 47 (Note: Please do not go into the tunnel…then you have gone too far!). Continue about 20 kilometers until you see the Hvammsvík sign on the left side of the road.
Hvammsvík Nature Resort is easily recognisable from the road by the black painted buildings on the property. The property is gated, but is open during the opening hours of the Hot Springs. If you have booked accommodation, please follow the instructions that you received in the confirmation email.
As you enter the gate to Hvammsvik from route 47, you will be greeted by the original and very typical Icelandic gravel road.
