The Highest Rated Geothermal Baths in Iceland
Customer Reviews
We are proud to share the wonderful customer reviews from those who have visited Hvammsvik. From day one, we have set out to put nature first and that is reflected in most aspects of our business. The hot springs are designed to be part of the environment. Our guests also experience as being one with nature; instead of a big pool, we chose to have smaller hot hot springs that are scattered on the beach. And we limit the number of guests at any given time. This means that you will have a natural Icelandic experience away from the crowds.

As far as the spa goes, we went to a few during our time in Iceland and while each wonderful and unique, hvammsvik is by far the most clean, beautiful, and relaxing. I bought product because the smell was therapeutic but not overly smelly, actually works, and a great keepsake. The tubs were all unique in their own ways and the ocean had many birds to watch.

If you are going to take the time and money to travel to Iceland, you must spend a bit of money and time to visit a hot spring while you are there. We chose Hvammsvik and we are glad we did. It was beautiful, right on the ocean, and not over-crowded. One hot spring has a swim-up bar, and there is a sauna and steam shower as well. Unique experience for sure!

Best hot springs in Iceland, the workers were very helpful and informative, the pools are clean and the bistro is amazing and a great spot to see northern lights, worth the money !
-Anna
We visited the hot spring and stayed overnight at their secluded houses and we LOVED IT! So picturesque, quiet, and beautiful. The spa was lovely and had a natural feel, unlike some of the other popular lagoons which felt a lot more recreational. We also saw the northern lights right outside our house, which was magical! Highly recommend!

We went to the other more popular springs and this particular one was our absolute favorite. It was less crowded and it was so serene. You cannot get better views. The swim up bar offers excellent wine.
-Kim
Amazing, not touristy, 100% better than the Blue Lagoon for sure! I would recommend a dip in the ocean if you are up to it

Ive been to Sky and Blue Lagoons respectively, and hand to heart LOVED Hvammsvik Hot Springs the most out of the lot!

A must stop on your tour of Iceland. Far enough off the beaten path that it’s far less touristy than Blue Lagoon. Many locals visiting when we were there. Great restaurant with soups and simple dishes, coffee, and cocktails.

AMAZING place! Having tried Blue Lagoon and Sky Lagoon too, Hvammsvík Hot Springs may actually be my favorite place to go to soak in the warm waters in Iceland. It's a very intimate space, doesn't feel crowded or touristy at all and you feel truly immersed in nature. Would for sure go again!
-Elizabeth
After looking at several of Iceland's famous lagoons and hot springs, we decided to visit Hvammsvík, and we're so glad we did. Not only was it a more affordable option than some of the better-known alternatives, but the setting felt incredibly natural, peaceful and authentic.
The drive there alone is worth the trip. The scenery is absolutely stunning, and we spent much of the journey admiring the mountains, coastline and local wildlife. By the time we arrived, we already felt like we'd had an experience before even stepping into the water!
-Sheetal
Ten different pools of varying temperatures for a blissful, spa-like experience. Clean facilities, friendly staff, picturesque views, and secluded enough to feel like a hidden gem
-Nora
What an amazing experience!! Way better than the over priced tourist places. This is a hidden gem with an amazing view and best value for money
-Mehju
Absolutely beautiful - well away from crowds. It was laid back, quiet and just amazing surrounds . Would definitely recommend over other hot springs

The home is so unique, the views are spectacular, and the large in-ground trampoline is a really fun touch. But I think our favorite part was having a private hot spring of our own, at the top of the hill, with incredible views of the bay and opposite mountain. There are actually two adjoining pools: a warmer and cooler pool, which together are similar to a wild-scaped infinity pool. The pools have a concrete base (no rocks, no mud, no slipping and sliding) that are deep enough to soak in, but shallow enough for our toddler to stand up in. In a word: perfect. Probably my favorite moments in Iceland were just soaking in that hot spring while watching the breeze in the wildflowers and enjoying the view. Incredible.

We loved our stay at the Hilltop House. It’s a really unique property with unbeatable views, interesting history, and private natural hot springs. The house was well renovated with modern amenities and high-end furnishings. We were very comfortable there and disappointed we couldn’t stay longer. The whole team was super friendly and responsive. Definitely one of the best vacation homes we’ve visited and we hope to stay there again in the future.

Truly magical place. Absolutely beats staying in town and all of the best hotels in Iceland.
Beautiful surroundings to watch the northern lights, enjoy a perfectly designed outdoor fire pit, relax in a heated outdoor pool, and watch the sunrise.
The hot springs, restaurant, and beaches are walkable from the house. The restaurant will deliver a small breakfast for your group to the house. 45 min drive to Reykjavík.

It has to be said as strongly as possible: this is one of the best listings you'll ever find. The cliche about photos not doing justice to things is correct in this case: you'll actually have 365 degree views, much more impressive than you might guess. Two things other reviewers may not have mentioned:
1. We stayed in winter. Check in and check out correspond fairly closely to dawn and dusk, meaning that if you stay one day you get only twilight and darkness.
2. The long bookshelf, visible in several pictures, contains one of the most impressive collections I have ever seen, mainly books on travel in Iceland, in various languages, including a mid-19th century manuscript and two 18th c. volumes. I could have stayed all year reading those. The smaller set of bookshelves in the master bedroom (which do not quite conceal the toilet just beyond!) are from a different world: they include Sotheby's catalogues from the 2010s and other books that complement the excellent art on the walls.
