An interview with our head chef
Hinrik Karlsson is the head chef at Hvammsvik. He carefully curated a menu full of delicious dishes created with local ingredients. Come eat and drink with us!
When did you start working at Hvammsvik
I have been working here for 9 years with the owner way before this [Hvammsvik] all started. We have had this idea for a long time and it has finally all come together.
What inspired the dishes served at Stormur Bistro?
I would say the environment that we have here is what inspired me the most.We try to use the ingredients that we have around us. When the mushroom season starts we use that, now we’re using some of the berries from the local hills and of course the seaweed that we use in our shots.
What inspired the sea food soup?
The soup has been a long process of trial and error, so we have been testing it for a long time now. I came across the ingredients when I was traveling abroad. The base of it is a curry and that combined with the fresh, local, Icelandic seafood is what makes it special.

The Legendary Seafood Soup
The most popular dish at Stormur Bistro is the seafood soup, served with delicious sourdough bread and butter. Learn more about the seafood soup in our interview with the head chef above.
Stormur Bistro also offers vegan and gluten-free options. Our menu is inspired by the surrounding Whale Fjords and features locally sourced ingredients. We hope you enjoy!

Reviews
If I had to eat one sandwich for the rest of my life, it would probably be from Stormur Bistro and Bar.
