Are Hvammsvík Hot Springs natural?

How long should you spend at Hvammsvík?
Most visitors spend around two to three hours enjoying the geothermal pools, restaurant, and surrounding scenery, although guests are welcome to relax at their own pace during opening hours.

The Upper Rock Pool is 36-39°C / 97-102°F and sits next to the Atlas Challenge

Lower Rock Pool
Try the lower rock pool which is ocean temperature at 38°C / 100°F

Tidal Pool
The tidal pool is around 35 °C / 95 °F however, it varies depending on the tides. Sometimes it disappears completely under the ocean

Lower Beach Pool
The Lower Beach Pool is 37-40°C / 98-104°F

Upper Beach Pool
The Upper Beach pool is 38-40°C / 100-104°F. You will find an elf stone in the middle of the hot spring. Rub the stone for good luck!

Old Hot Spring
This is the oldest and warmest hot spring on the property at 39-42°C / 102-107°F

Ocean Plunge Pool
Our newly built cold plunge sits right next to our new sauna making it the perfect spot for a hot and cold therapy session! Ocean temperature and filled with seawater.

Sauna
Our newly built sauna has a view over the fjord and is 70-90°C / 158-194°F. Dont forget to splash water on the rocks for more heat!

Steam Room
We recommend heading to the steam room between hot springs and after a dip in the ocean. The steam room is 46-48°C / 115-118°F

Stormur Bistro

Elf Rock
Visit the elf rock also known as Steðji in Icelandic. It is a short 5 minute drive from Hvammsvik.

Berry Picking
If you love walks and lying around in soft moss and grass, berry picking (or in Icelandic: Berjamór) is definitely a pastime for you.

Kayaking
Kayaking is available exclusively through our partnered kayaking tours, which are set up by the Atlantic Ocean. These events will be announced on our social channels and via email.

Eight Natural Hot Springs
Each of our eight hot springs is unique. Some stay warm while others fluctuate with the temperature of the North Atlantic. Relax or be brave, the choice is yours.

Steam Bath & Outdoor Shower
Between trying different hot springs, the steam bath and outdoor shower are a great addition to the experience.

Sauna
We recently opened a brand-new Finnish sauna located next to the steam room, with magical views of Whalefjord.

Paddle Boarding
When the weather is nice, the paddle boards come out. Ask our staff upon arrival and they will tell you about the availability.

Activities
We frequently host activities such as Wim Hof Method intro sessions and instructed ocean swimming sessions. All included in the admission ticket.

Swim Up Bar
In our main pool, marked as number 1 on our map you can swim up to the bar for a cold refreshment. Skál!

The Best Cold Plunge
Take a dip into the North Atlantic! We will inform you of the ocean's temperature of the day. Bringing or renting some swim boots for the harsh terrain is a good idea. Swim at your own risk!

Ocean Plunge Pool
A newly built cold plunge draws in cold seawater from the ocean and delivers it to a tub located next to the sauna. Easier access, same benefits.
