From intimate gatherings to larger celebrations, our breathtaking landscapes, cozy accommodations, natural hot springs, and a newly built Temple create a truly one-of-a-kind backdrop for your special day.

The Temple

The Temple is an outdoor sculpture open to interpretation. It is a sacred and inclusive space that welcomes everyone, regardless of religion or beliefs.

Hvammsvík is one of Iceland's earliest Viking settlement farms. There was a temple, or hof, at Hvammsvík, followed later by a Christian church. This transformation, from heathen traditions to Christianity, and the way sacred structures around the world have shifted roles throughout history, inspired the creation of the Temple at Hvammsvík.

The Temple was designed and completed by Skúli Mogensen on August 16, 2025, for the wedding of Gríma Björg Thorarensen. On that day, Guðrún Karls Helgudóttir, Bishop of Iceland, blessed the Temple and consecrated its function as a church for the ceremony.

For your wedding, the Temple can serve as the place where you exchange your vows. After the ceremony, it can be seamlessly transformed into a unique dining space, with seating for up to 150 guests.

The Barn at Hvammsvík offers a truly unique setting for your most meaningful celebrations. With its blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, it can be transformed into the perfect venue, from intimate seated dinners to lively standing receptions.

The warm atmosphere makes it an unforgettable backdrop for weddings, anniversaries, and private gatherings, while still providing the flexibility for creative layouts and personalized touches.

Accommodation

Hvammsvík offers 12 unique houses, creating the perfect retreat for you and your guests on your wedding day.

Four spacious houses are ideal for families or groups who want to stay together, while eight newly built Artist Lodges provide cozy and stylish accommodation for couples or individuals.

For weddings and ceremonies, a full booking of all 12 houses is required. This gives you and your guests exclusive access to Hvammsvík, including the Barn House and Temple for celebrations, private dining, and gatherings, turning the retreat into your very own private resort.

Hiking

Explore the numerous hikes both in the Hvammsvik estate and in the surrounding areas. Learn more about the trails and their difficulty levels

Paddle Boarding

Paddle boards are available during the summer and are included with your admission ticket, as long as the weather conditions permit. Please ask our staff for more details

Ocean Swimming

Want to try swimming in the ocean? Come join a short introduction to ocean swimming for beginners under the supervision of experienced ocean swimmers.

Atlas challenge

Try an ancient Icelandic lifting challenge, where you attempt to carry one of three stones over your shoulder. Learn more about the challenge and the price you can win to succeed.

Stormur Bistro

After a soak in the hot springs, we recommend trying some delicious dishes made from nourishing ingredients inspired by our surroundings. Our menu is inspired by the Whale Fjord and features locally sourced ingredients.

Fishing

Elf Rock

Visit the elf rock also known as Steðji in Icelandic. It is a short 5 minute drive from Hvammsvik.

Berry Picking

If you love walks and lying around in soft moss and grass, berry picking (or in Icelandic: Berjamór) is definitely a pastime for you.

Kayaking

Kayaking is available exclusively through our partnered kayaking tours, which are set up by the Atlantic Ocean. These events will be announced on our social channels and via email.
