The Hilltop House is a truly unique property with exceptional 360 degree panoramic views, sitting on a hill overlooking the fjord and mountain ridges on all sides. The house has its own private natural hot spring hidden in the landscape right next to the house. Please note that since the hot spring is natural, it can become too cold for bathing during winter chills.

Even though it's only 45 minutes away from Reykjavík city center, it is very private and you truly feel at one with nature as you enjoy the spectacular views or a walk around the estate.

The final look and feel is contemporary, yet rustic, showing a lot of originality, combining art, design and nature. It houses art by many of Iceland’s leading contemporary and modern artists, design furniture and interiors of the highest standards.

The house has 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms, including an en suite Master Bedroom. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and TV/Apple TV/Netflix. The third bedroom has two bunk beds. Every room enjoys spectacular views over the fjord and surrounding mountains.

The kitchen is in an open space, shared with the living room and dining area. The outdoor area includes two terraces, one with a glass roof, a large BBQ, fireplace with seating and the “hidden” geothermal hot spring – an exceptional place to view the northern lights in winter time.

The History of the Hill Top House

The Hilltop House was originally built by the British Navy as their communication headquarters in Iceland during WWII but has been completely renovated. During the renovation process, the history of the house was respected while at the same time making sure that it meets all modern requirements.

When Winston Churchill came to Iceland in 1942 to meet with FD Roosevelt Junior, they sailed into the Hvalfjörður fjord and are said to have had secret meetings at The Hilltop House, which was code named Falcon Crest.
