Hvalfjordur is known to be an old naval base of the British and American navies during World War II. The facilities at Hvammsvik are constructed on original barrack foundations built by allied troops during World War II. Hence we are building on and preserving the rich history of the site.
Hvammsvik is located 45 minutes away from Reykjavik, city center. We offer tours and transfers for those who are not traveling by car.
Hvammsvik Hot Springs are situated right on the Atlantic ocean, with water levels and temperatures of some of our eight geothermal pools fluctuating with the tides. Some of the hot springs disappear into the ocean in high tide and then emerge an hour later when the sea level goes down again.
Hvammsvik offers an aray of activities which are included with your admission ticket. A few activities include professionally lead ocean swimming, beginner Wim Hof Method sessions, hikes, and paddle boards which are subject to availability and weather.
